Monte Castello is Tilea's easternmost outpost, providing protection, or at the very least an early warning, against threats from the Border Princes and beyond. The coastal fortress itself has often been subjected to sieges by savage Bordes Princes armies and greenskin Waaagh!s, but, thanks to funding and troops from all Tilean city-states, it has survived until this day.
Primarily a military outpost, Monte Castello has little economic value. Despite this the town's serfs maintain a small olive farm, producing oils and wine. The wine in particular is of exceptional quality, and is highly sought after by connaiseurs. It is said the current prince of Trantio has a contract to purchase several bottles per year, as he is fond of serving this rare wine to foreign guests. No doubt this is an attempt at convincing the other city-states that Trantio has a measure of sophistication- something most Tileans remain skeptical of.
