Bar Drakk, the dragon's gate, is one of the earliest gates to have been contructed by dwarf settlers. The gate provides easy access from Ankor Drakk to the shore to the west, which allowed resources to be brought into the fledgling hold by merchants from Barak Varr. This greatly sped up the construction process, which had until then relied on overland transportation of resources via the badlands.
Even in the final days of Ekrund, Bar Drakk remained an impressive sight, the frame and the steps leading to the gate all incorporated into a massive statue depicting a dwarven warrior slaying a dragon.
When Mount Bloodhorn became Ekrund's new center of power, the dragon gate quickly lost its importance as a mercantile gate, but nonetheless retained its military importance, allowing the dwarves of Ankor Drakk to quickly respond to threats from the sea.
