Bitterstone Mines

The Bitterstone mines are among the largest of Ekrund's outlying mines. These were founded as quarries by the first settlers, providing the raw material needed for the construction of gates, mingols and other small yet semi-permanent settlements.

In later years the Bitterstone mines remained important as one of few of the outlying mines. While stone was no longer in demand when the dwarves eventually settled the mountains, the miners here found rich veins of iron ore beneath this extensive rocky outcropping.

Miners remained active in the Bitterstone mines until the final days of Ekrund, when they were among the first casualties who fell to the Waaagh!
