Dalazidrungak Drekaz

When the manlings of Marienburg openly declared their intention of clearing the Dragonback mountains of greenskins and claim Ekrund for themselves, the dwarves initially responded with reluctance. The thought of the humans succeeding where the dwarves had failed was preposterous of itself, the mere arrogance of it the cause of muttered curses and rolling of eyes.

Worse, the shame of Ekrund's fall is something spoken of only in hushed tones, for no dwarf willingly speaks of loss. These humans, who had the audacity to speak of it openly, struck a nerve with many of the dwarves.

However, if there was even a small chance of retaking one of their lost holds, the dwarves would gladly accept any help. Many protested the thought of giving the manlings access to the lost secrets of Ekrund, but the dwarven kings reduced their worries by ensuring their people that the manlings would only be deployed to clear the surrounding lands, the gates, and the grobi caves which were not part of Ekrund.

The real outrage came when all dwarven attempts at negotiation were denied by Marienburg. The humans announced, in no subtle words, that they aimed to conquer the hold without dwarven help, and when Ekrund was secure, they had no intention of surrendering ownership of the hold to the dwarves.

This would not stand. The kings of Barak Varr, Karak Hirn and Karak Izor met not long after the manlings' announcement, and after several days of negotation signed a contract according to which they pledged to lend part of their forces to an enterprise, with the express purpose of reclaiming Ekrund for the dwarves. Thus, the Dalazidrungak Drekaz were born.

Loosely translated from Khazalid, Dalazidrungak Drekaz means "the enterprise which conquers the ancient", which is an apt name for this undertaking. The intent of this gathering is not only to purge the goblin infestation in Ekrund, but also to claim the city, secure it, and keep other races- urk, grobi and manling alike- from setting foot inside.

Since its founding, members of the Dalazidrungak Drekaz have fought several minor skirmishes against Marienburg and its allies- both sides' supply lines coming under fire from patrolling ships, minor disputes along the coast of Ekrund, and a great deal of diplomatic catastrophies. This has only caused the number of grudges to mount, causing the dwarves to see little difference between the greenskins and the manling invaders.

GM's notes
Your task is not just to rid Ekrund of greenskins- it is to keep out the manlings seeking to claim the hold for themselves as well! They have made it perfectly clear that they intend to fight you, and their transgressions have earned them a prominent place in your book of grudges. Naturally, the orcs are no less deserving of your wrath. Drive back your foes, reclaim the hold, and one day, Grungni willing, the crown of Ekrund will be yours!

Characters
This faction is mainly intended for dwarves (duh), but any party could be interested in supporting them. Should Marienburg claims the city, the balance of power and global economics will shift- something an elf might try to prevent. If the orcs succeed, the Border Princes will suffer from their belligerence for years to come. Having the dwarves claim Ekrund is simply in the best interest of many a powerful individual who prefer to continue the status quo...
